Oguaamanhene Expresses Gratitude to Asantehene
The Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Council, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II has expressed his profound appreciation to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his esteemed presence that glorified the 60th Anniversary of the Fetu Afahye and his Silver Jubilee last week.
He sent a delegation led by the Queen of the Traditional Area, Nana Ekua Abookye VI, to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to extend his heartfelt appreciation on September 15, 2024.
Among the delegation were Oguaa Sanaahene Nana Kweku-Yensu and the Chairperson of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Mrs Charlotte Osei.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the linguist said, “It’s all good news. Oguaamanhene invited Otumfuo for his anniversary and festival. Otumfuo duly honoured the invitation and famed the event. Osabarima deemed it only right to send us to extend his thanksgiving to Otumfuo for the honour he bestowed upon him.”
Flag
As part of the appreciation, the delegation came along with a flag that symbolically depicted the supremacy of the Asante Kingdom.
The flag, with a black background and stripes of yellow, black, and white from the Asanteman flag, features giant embroideries of the porcupine – which is the emblem of the Asante Kingdom- a tiger and an eagle.
The eagle in the flag had gripped the tiger while the Porcupine walked untouched or unharmed.
Explaining the symbols, the linguist said, “The eagle possesses the power to defeat a tiger but can’t get close to the Porcupine.”
Picture
They also presented a framed picture of Otumfuo and Osabarima which was taken when the Asantehene visited the Emintsimadze Palace on September 5.
