Two Arrested at Ho Zongo for Murder

A murder enquiry has begun in Ho after a man believed to be in his early twenties was beaten to death at Sabong Zongo, in the night, by his neighbours who accused him of stealing their money.

The incident took place between 11pm and midnight on Sunday (August 4).

The body of the deceased, who was only identified as Maruan, has been deposited at the morgue at the Ho Teaching Hospital awaiting autopsy.

Two men in the same household at the Zongo have so far been arrested and placed in police custody in connection with the homicide.

Some residents in the area told the Daily Graphic on Monday (August 5) that a young man by name Kadel and his housemate Bube beat their victim until he became unconscious, after which one of them hit him on the head with a club.

Sensing danger, Kadel sought assistance from a tricycle taxi operator to send the body to the hospital, with a story that the deceased fell off a moving vehicle

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Graphic Online gathered that a doctor on duty at the time alerted the police, leading to the arrest of the tricycle taxi operator.

Kadel was said to have fled the hospital before the police arrived at the hospital.

Later, the police mounted a search for the two brothers and arrested them in the evening on Monday (August 5).

The tricycle taxi operator was later released.

A police spokesman confirmed the story when contacted by the Daily Graphic but gave no further details.

Meanwhile, there is an uneasy calm at the Zongo, following the incident.
