RTU Encounter an Accident after Impersonating in Dreams Defeat
The bus of Real Tamale United (RTU) was involved in an accident mid-week while on their way to Tamale in the Northern Region after their 8-1 defeat to Dreams Football Club.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred around Techiman in the Bono-East Region.
The bus at the time was carrying the players- alleged masqueraders- who featured in the game at Dawu on June 12, 2024, as well as the technical team.
A video of the accident which is circulating online showed the bush ditched in a bush.
No casualty was however reported.
Game Controversy
Relegated RTU ahead of the game, had their registered players boycotting the game over their six-month unpaid remuneration.
In reaction to this, the Chairman of the club allegedly recruited some second-division players and bused them to play the game, masquerading the real team players.
According to Sports journalist Saddick Adams, the Captain of the RTU confirmed he was in Tamale at the time of the game but was recorded to have played the game in Dawu.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says it is conducting a probe to ascertain the identities of the masqueraders.
The club has since been charged with deceiving match officials by using unregistered players in the game.
