We Won’t Tolerate Violence and Intimidation- Dumelo to Lydia Alhassan

The camp of aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo has issued a warning to the camp of their opponent, Lydia Alhassan, threatening to fight back all attempts of violence and intimation.

The caution follows Dumelo’s heated confrontation with a man in a viral video at the University of Ghana (UG), Legon voters registration centre on Monday May 27, 2024.

According to his spokesperson, the near-fisticuff confrontation was provoked by constant attacks on the actor at the centre by supporters of Lydia- the incumbent MP for the area.

“As one will recall, similar incidents occurred during the 2020 new voter registration exercise, where the MP and members of her campaign team attacked and threatened individuals around John Dumelo’s campaign.

“We wish to send a strong message to Lydia Alhassan and the NPP members in Ayawaso West Wuogon that we will not allow such ugly events of violence and intimidation to continue going into the 2024 general election. We will be left with no other option but to defend ourselves and protect the sanctity of the will of the Ghanaian people.”

It added that Dumelo and the leadership of the NDC are focused on winning the election slated for December in the quest to address the needs of the constituents
