Otumfuo@25: Tricycle Riders Told To Take Holiday On Sunday

The roads and streets of the Kumasi Metropolis are expected to be rid of tricycles on Sunday, May 13, 2024, when Asanteman, Ghana and the world convene at the Manhyia Palace to commemorate the 25th Enstoolment Anniversary of the Monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Riders of these vehicles have been directed to take a holiday on that auspicious day to bring sanity to the roads and streets for guests.

Speaking at a press briefing on May 9, 2024, Juabenhene Nana Otuo Sereboe disclosed this.

“Tricycle riders are entreated to take rest on Sunday. We don’t want any casualties. It’s a joyous day and we wouldn’t want any casualty. These vehicles would not be allowed to operate in the Kumasi metropolis”

Additionally, he announced the closure of some roads leading into the Manhyia Palace as well as the restriction of car entry into the Palace to those with specially designated stickers.

All these are aimed at creating a serene atmosphere and comfort for guests, he explained.

Juabenhene also highlighted the ban on black and politically branded outfits as well as Gun and fireworks activities within the precincts and around the Palace.

Dignitaries expected in the country for the event include the Prime Minister for Trinidad and Tobago, Dr the Hon, Keith Rowley,  Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita,  who will represent the King, Mohammed VI,  and a representative of the President of Ivory Coast, H.E Alassane Ouattara.

Ghanaian dignitaries expected at the event include President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Second Lady Samira Bawumia and Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey.

Also expected at the event are traditional authorities across the country, the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Akosua Frema Osei Opare and a representative of Speaker Alban Bagbin.
