Manhyia Museum, Kumasi Zoo Among Top 10 Visited Tourist Sites In 2023
The Manhyia Palace Museum and the Kumasi Zoo have ranked among the first ten most visited tourist sites in the country, according to the 2023 Tourism Report.
The report released by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) on Monday showed that tourism in the country had rebounded, exceeding pre-COVID era.
The Kumasi Zoo ranked fourth, recording an impressive 142,518 tourists in the year under review. It was the most visited zoo in the year.
The Manhyia Palace Museum ranked 10th with a total of 57,319 visitors.
Also, the recently renovated Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park took the lead among the most visited sites with 208,577 visitors, followed by the National Museum with 166,884 visitors.
The Kakum National Park ranked third with 159,271 visitors, the Cape Coast Castle ranked fifth with 101,134 visitors, the the Aburi Botanical Gardens in the Eastern region had 93,719 visitors, the Elmina Castle had 78,870 visitors, the Buns Eco Park recorded 78,203 visitors and the Accra Zoo recorded 71,13 visitors.
The report showed that the country recorded 1,148,002 international arrivals with most of them accordingly from the United States of America (133,885), Nigeria (82,642) and the United Kingdom (51,785).
Domestic tourism increased from 945,892 in 2022 to 1,148,002, the report said.
