Asantehene Paves Way For Enstoolment Of New Obogu Chief
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has paved the way for the enstoolment of Mr Akwesi Wusu as the next paramount chief of the Obogu Traditional Area.
The process of electing a candidate to succeed the late Nana Oduro Apenteng Darkwa ll encountered some challenges which necessitated the intervention of Otumfuo a few weeks ago.
His Majesty resolved the outstanding hindrance to the enstoolment of a new chief two weeks ago, and ordered Obaahemaa Afia Pokuaa II, the queen mother of the Area, to elect a candidate from the Abuom Ayoko royal family.
The process again suffered a setback when a young royal invoked the Great Oath claiming the candidate was not suitable.
The issue presided over by Asantehene during the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on March 25, 2024, gave the young man the platform to make his case at the end of which he realized he had committed a blunder.
The Council chastised him for what seemed like a challenge to the earlier ruling of the King concerning the stool.
His Majesty passing his judgment upheld his previous verdict.
“No one or nothing can change my verdict on any case. This case is already closed.”
He further inquired for an update to the processes in the selection of a candidate to which he was presented with one AKwesi Wusu. He then declared, “Go undertake all rites for his installation immediately.”
This is refreshing news to the whole town which has been without a paramount chief for some time now.
