Africa Games: Ghana’s Female Hockey Team Defeat Nigeria To Win Gold
The Black Sticks in an impressive campaign have claimed a gold medal for Ghana in a closely contested showdown in the African Games Hockey tournament.
Ghana’s team beat Nigeria in the finals by 4-3 on penalties in the women’s hockey on March 22, 2024, at the Theodosia Okoh Stadium in Accra after 0-0 draw at the end of regular time.
It marked their second win over the Nigerians after their 1-0 victory in the groups stage.
This is a back-to-back victory for Ghana’s female team since the beginning of the tournament on March 17. They inflicted a heavy defeat on Kenya in their group opener.
It follows the Black Princesses’ shine in the finals of women’s football where they neatly defended their title against Nigeria’s Super Falconets at the Cape Coast Stadium on March 21, 2024.
