Otto Addo Eyes Nigeria Flaws For Friendly Victory
The head coach of the senior national team, Otto Addo is seeking to capitalise on the weaknesses of the Super Eagles of Nigeria when they lock horns at the Grand Stade de Marrakech later today.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Morocco on March 21, 2024, the reappointed football manager said the Nigerians, despite their strong squad have their fair share of flaws.
These flaws, he said, were evident in their campaign in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament where they came second after their 2-1 loss to Cote d’Ivoire in the finals.
“They have really, really strong and experienced players, even though I guess not all of them are here. I think they have a very, very strong squad. We expect them to be very hard to break against the ball but also with the ball, which you saw at the African Cup of Nations, they are really, really good in offensive transmissions, they have fast players on the wings, tall players upfront who can hold the ball no matter who comes, with a really, really solid back chain so it’s going to be tough.
“But we know what we can do and we know how to play against such a host and even though they went to the final, they showed in some matches that they are vulnerable so anything can happen.”
The former Ghana international is hoping for a good start to which they can cement their victory, he said.
The Black Stars will at 4pm today, March 22, 2024, take their first game after their humiliating exit from the AFCON at group stage earlier this year.
