Coach Basigi Optimistic of Black Princesses Win Against Senegal
The head coach of the Black Princesses, Coach Yusif Basigi is expecting his side to put up an impressive and better showpiece this Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi against Senegal.
He anticipates a favourable game in the second leg of the 2024 U-20 World Cup qualifiers against Senegal after a resounding victory in the first leg.
His side stunned their opponents at Stade Lat Dior in Senegal with two early goals- all by Tracy Twum.
The brace in the 5th and 7th minute, respectively, was enough to see the Ghanaian side through despite facing stiff opposition in the late moments of the game.
The 2023 CAF Coach of the Year nominee after the game said he is hopeful the second leg will be in their favour.
“The late arrival of the foreign-based players was a little bit of a problem so you realized that a point Mafia got tired because the weather in Morocco is not the same…and so as the rest. Now that we are going to Kumasi I’m expecting a better game than today. Winning by two goals in an away match is not bad at all. We’ve been very impressive.”
Despite winning all five played qualifiers, he said his girls are focused and running at a qualification.
“I will not conclude everything yet even though we are two steps ahead of them, we are not going to be complacent. Our dream to qualify for Columbia is to be focused and work extra hard so that we can get there.”
The Black Princesses are already in Kumasi preparing for the game.
