Actor Ameachi Muonago Paralysed
Popular Nigerian actor Ameachi Muonago has publicly revealed his battle against paralysis seven years after rumours swirled that he was ill to death.
The actor cum producer had not appeared on set since then and his recent disclosure gives sense to that.
In a video that has since taken over social media, the actor appeared lying on a bed and appealing for financial support for his recovery.
He said he was battling a stroke which “struck” during his exit from a movie set.
“I was on a movie set with Emeka Ani, Patience Ozokwo, Rita Edochie, and Ebele Okaro. I was about to enter my car when I was struck with this problem and since then it has been getting worse. Right now, I can’t move, I can’t walk on my own. Half of my left leg is paralyzed, so it is a problem for me,” he said without any timeline.
He said he was rushed to a hospital and later referred to a Teaching hospital where he spent almost two months on admission.
He further explained his decision to keep his situation from the public eye until now, saying, “I’m so sorry I didn’t make it known to the public earlier, because I didn’t know it would last this long, but as it is now, I am calling on well-minded individuals to come to my assistance, to see how they can help me. It’s paralysis, half of my body.”
There were numerous publications in 2016 to the effect that the actor was suffering from diabetes.
The 61-year-old starred in movies including “2 Rats,” “Issakaba,” “My Village People” and others.
A similar condition has struck Nigerian comic actor Mr Ibu. In mid-October, he took to social media to appeal for support in treating what he called a “strange and dangerous illness” threatening to leave one of his legs amputated.
