NACOC Intercepts Cannabis At Kotoka Aviance Cargo Section
In two separate incidents at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Thursday, cannabis was discovered by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
According to a scanty statement released by the Commission, the first drug identified as KUSH- a cannabis prepared with precursors- was found concealed in packages of cereals from the United States of America (USA) into the country.
The products weighing 6.0kg were intercepted by officers detailed at the Aviance Cargo section, the commission said.
The officers, however, failed to arrest the owners per the press statement.
The second cannabis weighed 0.96kg and was discovered in the same section, however, en route to the United Kingdom (UK).
These were concealed in herbal tonic bottles. It is not known if an arrest was made in this regard.
Togo Border
Meanwhile, the NACOC reported another operation led to the interception of ‘Tramaking 225’, a psychotropic drug at the Akanoe-Noepe border on September 24.
The Commission says some arrests were effected, however, it was not disclosed how many.
Its statement assured, “The Commission and its Togolese counterparts are working closely to bring the culprits to justice.
“The Commission is committed and will continue to work acidulously to protect its borders and people and ensure the health and safety of all Ghanaians.”
