Don’t Pay Tax Officers For Services Rendered- GRA
The Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Dr Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, has warned the public against paying for the services of tax officials at its Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD) and Customs offices.
According to him, services rendered by officers are free and must therefore not be paid for.
The piece of information was contained in a press statement by the Authority on Wednesday, a part of which read, “The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) announces for the information of the general public, especially VAT registered persons and businesses that, in line with its processes and procedures, no money or fee is charged for services rendered in any of its Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD) and Customs offices across the country.”
It added, “Taxpayers are advised not to pay any money to a tax officer for rendering services. Services provided by the GRA are totally FREE.”
It, however, noted that the purchase of value books such as VAT/NHIL invoice booklets is the only payment taxpayers are required to make at a cost of GH¢1.50p.
It also directed the taxpayers to report incidences of extortion by GRA staff to the nearest Taxpayer Service Centre or Customs Collection or the GRA Head office, Off Starlets’ 91 Road, near Accra Sports Stadium, Ministries.
