2023 AFCON: Ghana Drawn In Group B With Record Holders Egypt
Ghana has been drawn in Group B for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament along with record holders Egypt.
Cape Verde and Mozambique complete the group.
This means the Black Stars will be fighting the three teams to secure a spot in the round of 16.
Twenty-four teams were plotted into six groups during an event in Abidjan on Thursday, October 12, 2023
Ghana will be seeking to extend their wins to five after last winning the tournament in 1982 while Egypt longs for an eighth record.
Meanwhile, current title holder Senegal has been drawn in Group C alongside Cameroon, Guinea and AFCON debutants Gambia.
The hosts who have to their name two titles will see off Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau in Group A while highest-placed African team in FIFA rankings, Morocco, will face off DR Congo, Zambia and Tanzania in Group F.
Competing in Group D are Algeria, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Angola with Group E, one of the competitive groups, housing Tunisia, Mali, South Africa, Namibia.
The tournament will take place at six venues across the Cote D’Ivoire beginning on January 13 at two stadiums in the country’s capital, one in Bouake and at three newly built venues in Korhogo, San Pedro and Yamoussoukro.
The tournament will end on February 11.
