Napoli “Never Wanted To Mock” Osimhen
Napoli has reacted to the threats of legal action by agent of striker Victor Osimhen over a social media video clip that appeared as a mockery to the player.
In a statement, the club took responsibility for the video but indicated it was never intended to ridicule their “treasure”.
According to them, the video was composed to suit trends on TikTok.
“Social media, in particular, TikTok, has always used an expressive form of language with a light heart and creativity, without wanting to, as in the case with Osimhen as the protagonist, have any intention of insult or derision.”
“Calcio Napoli, wishing to avoid any exploitation of the issue, point out that we never wanted to offend or mock Victor Osimhen, who is a treasure of this club,” they said.
“In any case, if Victor perceived any offence towards him, this was not what the club intended”.
After missing a penalty to deny the Italian Club a win against Bologna on Sunday, Napoli posted a video of Osimhen appealing for the penalty, using a strange sped-up voice, then demanding to take it before the video showed him blasting it off target.
The video which has since been deleted offended the player whose agent threatened legal action against the Club on Monday, classifying the deletion as belated.
On Wednesday, a video went viral of the Nigerian snubbing his teammate after arriving at a hotel ahead of the Club’s fixture against Udinese.
