‘Jumping’ on Someone’s Song as an Artiste Is Not a Bad Thing – Mophty Legacy
Mophty Legacy has expressed his perspective on open verse challenges on social media. He emphasized that it’s not a negative practice and shared his own experience of gaining popularity through such a challenge.
In an interview on Opemsuo Radio’s Kumasefie with Mr Black, he explained that despite his original songs not receiving the same recognition, his social media engagement increased notably when he contributed an open verse to Drew’s song, ‘Case”.
“Jumping on someone’s song as an artiste is not a bad thing.”
“People often say that I gained fame through someone else’s song, but I want to clarify that I’m not a lazy artiste. I’ve been part of the industry for a long time and have a repertoire of songs. Maybe from now on, I’ll begin releasing more of them.”
Mophty Legacy elaborated on the circumstances that led to his collaboration with Mr Drew.
“Mr Drew had posted his song on social media, and an open verse challenge was initiated. My brother mentioned me in a comment, motivating me to participate.”
After Mophty’s open verse was posted on social media, Mr Drew was impressed and got in touch with him.
Both met at the mall and together, they posted a video announcing their meeting, which garnered substantial attention.
This eventually led to a remix collaboration between the two artistes.
