BECE Results Not Out; WAEC Says
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has debunked reports that results for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been released.
The Council in a statement said it is ready to release the results next week.
WAEC says it has advanced in the processes towards the release of the results, however, it is not yet out.
“Having successfully conducted the examination at some 2023 centres and completed coordination and marking exercises, the council is far advanced with post-examination activities”.
Ahead of the release of the results which has been slated for Wednesday, January 25, the Council said investigations are ongoing into examination irregularities that were recorded during and after the conduct of the examination.
It, therefore, urged the public to disregard reports that the results are in.
“Parents and candidates should remain calm as the Council works towards the release of the results”.
Meanwhile, the council has urged candidates and school authorities fingered in malpractices to avail themselves for the investigations.
“For a quick resolution of malpractice cases, the Council appeals to affected school authorities and candidates to respond with dispatch to its invitation.”
It said the refusal to honour such invitations will not curtail the Council from making a final determination.
Candidates have been allowed to verify their second-cycle school choices.
The exercise which began on 14 January will end on 22 January.
