Afia Schwarzenegger Releases Apology To Court Pending Verdict
Socialite Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa popular as Afia Schwarzenegger has apologised to Tema High court B and the general public for contempt.
She took to her Instagram page to apologise after the court decided yesterday to deliver a verdict on her contempt case on January 17.
In June, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patritic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako filed a defamation suit against his alleged ex-lover for exposing their amorous relationship on UTV’s United Showbiz.
As the case continued in court, the television station during an episode of its entertainment show, the United Showbiz, run commentary on the case in July where Schwarzenegger and others “delved” into the case.
Following that, Antwi Boasiako filed a contempt case with the court against Schwarzenegger, the other contemnors and UTV.
On December 1, Schwarzenegger was sentenced in her absence to 10 days in prison for contempt of court and a bench warrant was issued for her arrest.
On Tuesday, December 20 when she appeared in court, her lawyers prayed for the court to suspend the verdict.
The case then was adjourned for delivery of a final verdict on January 17, 2023.
Following this, Schwarzenegger posted an apology on Instagram expressing her “sincerest and deepest apology”.
“Whilst it was never my intention to delve into the substance of the matter, I have come to the realisation, though belatedly, that my conduct and comments, should have been measured by caution and restraint”.
She added, “I will always from hereon endeavour, to conduct my affairs in a manner that will not cause public disaffection nor seek to undermine the courts of our land. As I said on that fateful day, I respect our courts and their authority”.
