COPEC: Petrol, Diesel Prices To Decrease
The Chamber for Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) has predicted a slump in the prices of petrol and diesel in the second pricing window of November 2022.
It attributed the fall in prices to “a stronger intervention by the Bank Of Ghana with specific emphasis on petroleum import space through targeted forex auctions”.
It predicts that starting from November 16, petrol prices will decline from GHC 17.42 per litre to GHc16.07 per litre. This is despite “a slight” increase in the international benchmarks.
Diesel price will also fall to GHc20.25 per litre from GHc23.43 per litre, it said.
The projected decline in diesel prices, COPEC said, was due to a decline in International price benchmarks for diesel prices by $123/mt.
According to COPEC, the projection took into consideration the forex situation and international market price movements or benchmarks.
Meanwhile, it said Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices will increase to 13.51/kg.
“International benchmarks for lpg have seen an increase of about $32 from $598.27 to $630.56, this could be expected to lead to an increase in retail price on current retail averages of 12.10/kg to a likely retail price of 13.51/kg.”
