Mankessim Murder: Police Confirm Chief Is Alive

The police have debunked speculations that Tufohen of Ekumfi Akwakrom, Nana Oye, the chief arrested in connection with the murder of a prospective student nurse has died.

“The report circulating in the media that the chief arrested in connection with the murder of a prospective student-nurse at Mankessim has died is false.

“The chief and his accomplice who were remanded into police custody by the court to reappear on October 4, 2022, are alive and in custody”, the police tweeted over the weekend.

It, therefore, advised the public to treat the report with the contempt that it deserves.

The chief and a pastor were arrested over the death of Georgina Asor-Botchwey, a young lady who had travelled from Yeji to Cape coast for an interview to gain admission into a nursing college.

The body of the deceased was found buried in an uncompleted building at Esikafoambatem at Edumadze, a suburb of Mankessim.

The two were arraigned at the Cape Coast Magistrate Court on September 20, 2022, but were remanded into police custody to reappear on October 4, 2022.
