Corruption Survey: FixtheCountry Group Disappointed In Ghana Police Service

The pressure group, Fixthecoutry, has expressed disappointment in the Ghana Police Service for ranking first in terms of corruption in the country.

This comes after the Ghana Statistical Service, the Commission on Human Rights Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime released a survey result on corruption for the year 2021 under the theme, “Corruption in Ghana, Peoples Experiences and View”.

Out of twenty-four institutions, the survey found the Ghana Police Service as the most corrupt institution.

The group bemoaned the fact that the police service did not undertake critical institutional reform and accountability in tackling similar surveys released in the past.

“We are disappointed that the police hierarchy and its Inspector General of Police have failed to prioritise the reform of police institution the rhetoric and penchant of PR and to ensure that the evil of criminality does not remain so institutionalised in the work of the Ghana Police Service”, the group said.

It hoped that this new report would not be subjected to the same fate by the service.
