42 Nursing Colleges to Be Accredited to Begin Degree Programmes- Dep Health Minister

The Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has disclosed that 42 colleges of health are awaiting accreditation to commence degree programmes as part of plans to transition health training institutions into Bachelor of Science degree-awarding bodies.
She made this known when she visited the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Goaso to interact with students and assess their welfare and training conditions.
The 42 health training colleges have successfully completed their assessments, she said, describing the development as a significant step towards strengthening the country’s healthcare workforce.
Prof. Ayensu Danquah also highlighted the government’s firm commitment to transitioning health training.
According to her, the reform is aimed at enhancing academic standards, improving professional progression, and aligning health training with modern requirements.
In her remarks, she underscored the essence of health training institutions as the foundation for the future of healthcare delivery in Ghana.
She noted that these institutions are where commitment is shaped into competence and where the next generation of nurses and midwives is prepared to serve with care, skill, discipline, and professionalism.
The visit, which provided an opportunity for direct engagement with students, was described as an exciting and impactful interaction, with students expressing appreciation for the Deputy Minister’s presence and encouragement.
