3 Alleged Phone Snatchers in Police Custody

The Ghana Police Service says it has in its custody three suspected phone snatchers.
According to the police, the suspects are members of a syndicate that uses taxi cabs to steal mobile phones and other valuables from unsuspecting victims.
They were arrested on January 12, 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects operate mainly in the early hours of the day, posing as taxi drivers in search of passengers.
“Two of the suspects sit in the front seats of the vehicle, while one positions himself in the back seat.”
Modus Operandi
Per their modus operandi, when a victim boards the car, the suspects deliberately lock the doors to make it difficult for the victim to open when alighting.
While the victim attempts to open the door, the thief seated at the back pretends to assist and allegedly steals the victim’s mobile phone or wallet.
Identities
The suspects have been identified as Sasu Lawrence, also known as Agbe, Richard Osei, and Charles Kofi Nti, also known as Survivor.
The Service noted that efforts are underway to identify others linked to the activities, particularly those who receive and trade in the stolen items.
