23 Players Report to Black Stars Camp

Twenty-three out of the 25-man squad of Head Coach Otto Addo have touched base in Accra for the second training of the Black Stars ahead of Thursday’s crucial game.

As of Tuesday morning, Ibrahim Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah, Michael Baidoo, Ibrahim Sadiq, Abdul Mumin, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Alidu Seidu, Majeed Ashimeru, Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Jerome Opoku, and Alexander Djiku had reported.

They joined Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Joseph Wollacott, Elisha Owusu, Mohammed Salisu, Frederick Asare, Isaac Afful, Antoine Semenyo, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Gideon Mensah, and Brandon Thomas-Asante who partook in the first training at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 7.

Remainder
The camp now awaits the arrival of Abu Francis and Jonas Adjei Adjetey who were handed late call-ups after some players pulled out in the last minute due to injuries.

The two will miss today’s training but are expected in the country tomorrow, the Balck Stars official X account noted.

“Abu Francis and Jonas Adjei Adjetey are set to join the squad tomorrow.”

Training
In all, the Black Stars will have three training sessions before the third and fourth rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament qualifier against Sudan on Thursday, October 10.

The players will have their second training session today, October 8 behind closed doors at 4:30 pm with their last training session scheduled for October 9 at a yet-to-be-decided time.

Game
The first leg of the qualifier will be hosted by the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, 2024, while the return leg will be held in Libya on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Ghana are currently third in Group F with just one point from a loss and a draw creating uncertainty around their qualification for the tournament.

The Black Stars lost their opening qualifier by 1-0 to Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and drew 1-1 against Niger in their second game.
