Ghana to Push Digital Access For Women Entrepreneurs

Ghana will make a case for leveraging digital platforms to expand market access for women entrepreneurs as the 2026 Commonwealth Women’s Forum opens in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, who is representing Ghana at the Forum, is billed to deliver a statement on “Leveraging Networks and Digital Platforms to Scale and Access New Markets” – a key session on women’s economic empowerment.

The Forum, which precedes the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), is being held under the theme “Advancing Gender Equality: Investment in a Prosperous and Resilient Commonwealth” and brings together governments, civil society and development partners to forge practical solutions to gender inequality.

For Ghana, the engagement is expected to spotlight its interventions on gender-based violence, women’s economic inclusion and disability-inclusive social protection, while drawing lessons from other member states.

Dr Lartey will also participate in sessions on the health-sector response to gender-based violence and the Commonwealth Disability Forum, which will examine implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in areas such as education, employment and political participation.

Opening speakers at the Forum warned that climate change, rising gender-based violence and low political participation continue to reverse gains made by women and girls across the Commonwealth, calling for stronger partnerships and resource mobilisation.
