The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cancelled the two-day mid-term break for basic schools, originally scheduled for November 5 and 6, 2026.
According to a statement issued from GES Headquarters and signed by Daniel Fenyi, the decision forms part of efforts to recover instructional hours lost during the recent industrial action.
“As part of efforts to recover instructional hours lost during the recent industrial action, Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to inform the public that the two-day mid-term break for basic schools, scheduled for November 5 and 6, 2026, has been called off,” the statement said.
The Service therefore directed that all basic schools are to open and conduct normal academic activities on Thursday, November 5, and Friday, November 6, 2026.
It advised teachers, students, parents, guardians and the general public to take note and be guided accordingly, while thanking stakeholders for their cooperation and continued commitment to quality education.
