GAF Takes Delivery of 45 Military Utility Vehicles to Boost Operational Readiness

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has taken delivery of 45 Military Pattern Utility Vehicles as part of efforts to strengthen troop mobility and enhance operational readiness.

The vehicles were received on Friday, October 16, 2026, under the government’s ongoing retooling programme aimed at equipping the Armed Forces to effectively carry out its constitutional mandate.

The fleet comprises 15 KIA utility vehicles, 15 four-by-four vehicles, and 15 six-by-six Troop Carrying Vehicles (TCVs).

The vehicles are expected to improve troop transportation, facilitate movement across difficult terrain and enhance the Army’s ability to respond swiftly to operational demands.

The acquisition forms part of the government’s broader efforts to modernise the Ghana Armed Forces, strengthen national security and improve its capacity to safeguard Ghana’s territorial integrity.

Earlier this year, the Ghana Navy acquired the Ghana Navy Ship (GNS) PRU, commissioning the vessel on 10th February, 2026, while the Ghana Air Force also strengthened its capabilities with the delivery of an Airbus H175 helicopter from France on March 5, 2026.
