Bechem Poultry Processing Factory 50% Complete, To Be Ready In March – Contractor

Work on the meat processing factory at Bechem is 50 per cent complete and on track to be finished by March next year, according to President John Dramani Mahama.

The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who shared details of the visit, said the contractor gave assurance on the completion timeline during the President’s inspection.

According to him, the 6,000-chicken-per-hour factory is being developed by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture as part of the government’s broader push to attain self-sufficiency in poultry production.

Despite the civil works being at the halfway stage, all equipment required for the factory has already been procured and is ready for installation once the buildings are completed, the Minister added.

The Bechem facility is expected to significantly boost local capacity to process poultry at commercial scale, reduce import dependence and create jobs within the poultry value chain when operational.
