Asantehemaa Pays Homage to Otumfuo on 7th Akwasidae

The Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, paid homage to the King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as he sat in state to observe the seventh Akwasidae Festival.
The festival fell on October 11 and marked the first public meeting between the two leaders for an Akwasidae celebration.
Her Majesty, together with a large entourage of traditional authorities and courtiers, proceeded from her palace to the durbar grounds where the festival was held.
She paid her respects to the King and exchanged pleasantries with him before returning to her palace.
Before leaving, the Asantehemaa also treated those gathered to a rare display of traditional dance.
The Asantehene was joined by dignitaries including the Ashanti Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene; Oforikrom MCE Anwel Ahmed; KNUST Vice-Chancellor Prof. Christian Agyare and a university delegation; and Lawyer S.K. Boafo, who led newly elected NPP regional executives to the palace.
Also present were Ghanaian boxer Freezy Macbones, who presented his championship belt to the Asantehene; HAPAwards CEO Dr Tina Weisinger; French fashion designer Christian Louboutin; and former Liberian Cultural Ambassador Juli Endee, who presented a special gift to the King on behalf of her country’s president.
