Ghana Sympathises with Nigeria After Igbokoda Plane Crash Kills 25

Ghana has extended its deepest condolences to the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria following a tragic plane crash at Igbokoda in Ondo State.

The crash, which occurred on October 5, 2026, claimed the lives of 25 people.

In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, October 8, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama said Ghana shares in Nigeria’s grief and mourns the lives lost.

“As a nation that grieved and is still grieving the tragic loss of six of our compatriots in a similar incident barely a year ago, Ghana deeply understands the pain and sorrow that Nigeria is experiencing at this difficult time. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this devastating loss,” the statement said.

“Ghana shares in Nigeria’s grief. We mourn the lives lost and extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved families, friends and colleagues of the victims, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the entire people of Nigeria.”

The Ministry added that the thoughts and prayers of Ghanaians are with the families who have lost their loved ones.
