KMA Supports 64 Persons With Disabilities With Cash and Equipment

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has supported 64 Persons with Disabilities with cash and livelihood equipment under the District Assemblies Common Fund.

The beneficiaries, whose needs were assessed by the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, received items including industrial sewing machines, chest freezers and laptops, alongside financial support to help them strengthen their livelihoods.

Presenting the items on Friday, October 2, 2026, the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support and turn the opportunities into sustainable sources of income.

He said the Assembly believes everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better and more independent life, and announced plans to establish a skills training centre for Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with the Ghana Federation of Disability to provide continuous skills development and empowerment.

The Kumasi Metro President of the Ghana Federation of Disability, Mr. Francis Asamoah Baffour, expressed appreciation to the Assembly on behalf of the beneficiaries and assured that the Federation would monitor beneficiaries to ensure the items are put to their intended use.
