EOCO Flags Viral Publication On Manhyia South MP’s Bail as Fake

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has flagged as fake a viral publication circulating on social media about the bail granted to the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
A graphic bearing a “NEWS ALERT” tag with the inscription “EOCO grants Manhyia South MP, Baffour Awuah, ¢50 million bail with three sureties” dated Fri. 2 Oct. 2026 has been stamped “FAKE”.
The public is advised to kindly disregard the information as contained in that particular graphic.
The flag comes after the MP on Thursday, October 1, voluntarily reported to EOCO at about 10 a.m. to assist with investigations following an arrest warrant secured from the Accra High Court.
EOCO says its investigation borders on allegations of criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and tax-related offences.
The MP has denied receiving GH¢2.2 million as legal fees and has disputed EOCO’s account of earlier attempts to secure his attendance.
