Academic City Presents Cybersecurity White Paper to Communication Minister

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has received a white paper on cybersecurity from a delegation from Academic City University, following a stakeholder roundtable held during last year’s National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

The white paper brings together perspectives from academia, industry and the Cyber Security Authority, with recommendations focused on strengthening Ghana’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

Key areas include building national capacity and talent, developing local cybersecurity solutions, and moving from policy development to measurable implementation.

The delegation, which included representatives from Academic City, the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH) and the Cyber Security Authority, also highlighted the need to deepen collaboration between academia, industry and government to harness Ghanaian talent and develop solutions to local cybersecurity challenges.

Upon receiving the paper, Hon. Samuel Nartey George welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed academia’s role as a key partner in shaping Ghana’s cybersecurity future.

He noted that policy direction must be matched by strong institutions, industry participation and research that can translate into practical solutions.

The Minister also underscored the importance of sustained investment in cybersecurity and shared updates on ongoing efforts to strengthen Ghana’s legislative framework in the sector.

The Ministry will study the recommendations and explore areas for collaboration as Ghana continues to build a more resilient and trusted digital ecosystem.
