No Heavy Rainfall Expected In Ashanti Region This Week — Meteorological Officer

Ashanti Regional Meteorological Officer, Kwame Ofori Agyeman, has forecast that the region is unlikely to experience heavy rainfall this week, although light rain could occur in the mornings and evenings.

Speaking in an interview with Kofi Boakye on Nkwantannanso on Opemsuo Radio, Mr Ofori Agyeman said the forecast was based on weather models indicating that significant rainfall was not expected across Kumasi and the Ashanti Region.

“Based on what we are seeing in our models this week, we are not expecting any heavy rainfall in Kumasi and the Ashanti Region as a whole,” he said.

He also noted that rainfall in September this year has been lower compared to the same period last year.

According to him, September 2025 recorded rainfall on 15 days, while rainfall this year has been relatively low, a situation he attributed to climate variability.

He explained that rainfall patterns can vary from one year to another, meaning the region could record higher rainfall in September next year.

Mr Ofori Agyeman further explained that the current wind pattern is bringing moisture into the atmosphere but is not strong enough to produce heavy rainfall.

He said the moisture carried by the wind can sometimes cause surfaces, including roofing sheets, to become wet even when there has been no noticeable rainfall.

“The wind blowing now is coming from the sea, so it brings moisture into the atmosphere, but it does not produce heavy rainfall,” he explained.

He said residents could still experience some light rainfall during the week, particularly in the mornings and evenings.

“We may experience light rainfall in the mornings and evenings, but we are not expecting heavy rainfall this week,” Mr Ofori Agyeman stated.
