Ghana Courts Saudi Investment For Railway, Energy Infrastructure
Ghana is courting increased Saudi investment in railway development and energy infrastructure as part of efforts to deepen bilateral ties ahead of its takeover of the Chair of the African Union.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, disclosed this after a bilateral meeting in New York last week with the Saudi Foreign Minister, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, on the margins of the UN General Assembly.
According to Mr. Ablakwa, the talks centred on advancing Ghana-Saudi relations with a focus on railway development and energy infrastructure, two priority sectors under President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Minister said the two countries also agreed to forge closer collaboration on a number of continental priority issues as Ghana prepares to assume the leadership of the African Union.
He said both sides committed to accelerating high-level engagements aimed at increasing investments to support Ghana’s transformation agenda.
