Parliamentary Committee Tasks Ghana Shippers’ Authority to Secure Title to Its Properties

The Parliamentary Committee on Roads and Transportation has tasked the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) to secure proper documentation and title to its properties as part of measures to strengthen institutional accountability and safeguard public resources.

The directive was given when the Committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Isaac Mensah Adjei, visited the GSA to assess its operations, administrative systems, resource management and efficiency measures in the shipping and logistics sector.

Hon. Adjei said effective documentation and protection of state assets were critical to improving transparency and preventing the loss of public property.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the GSA, Professor Ransford Edward Gyampo, told the Committee the Authority is implementing measures to decongest Ghana’s ports and improve stakeholder sensitisation.

He said the Authority is also taking steps to protect shippers, including moves to reduce container administrative charges, subject to approvals, and ongoing engagements to reach an out-of-court settlement with stakeholders over disputed charges.
