Ghana Signs AI Education Deal With Intel
Ghana has signed an agreement with Intel Corporation to scale Artificial Intelligence (AI) education in basic schools, as part of a global push to empower children through technology.
It seeks to equip children with the knowledge and opportunities to learn, grow and thrive while promoting the safe and responsible use of technology and addressing emerging online risks.
Under the agreement, Ghana affirmed its commitment to work with Coral Reef and the Ministry of Education to scale the AI for Youth Programme, which will introduce responsible AI teaching and learning into K-12 classrooms across the country.
Intel will support efforts to empower Ghanaian students with skills to engage with AI safely and thoughtfully.
The deal was signed in New York by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, on behalf of the First Lady of Ghana, H.E. Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, at the “Fostering the Future Together” engagement held on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81).
The initiative resonates with Mrs Lordina Mahama’s long-standing commitment to education, particularly girl-child education, through the Lordina Foundation.
The initiative, convened by the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, brought together First Spouses from around the world and private sector giants including Adobe, Amazon, Google, Intel, Starlink, Zoom and OpenAI.
