CSA Flags Rise in Digital Financial Fraud Ahead of National Cyber Security Awareness Month

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has cautioned the public against increasing cases of digital financial fraud, listing key red flags citizens must watch out for to stay safe online.

In a public alert issued as part of the countdown to the 2026 National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), the Authority said unexpected payment requests, pressure to act quickly, poor grammar, suspicious links and requests for confidential information are common warning signs of fraud.

The CSA said these tactics are often used by cybercriminals to trick unsuspecting victims into losing money or disclosing sensitive personal and financial information.

The awareness post, which indicates 14 days to go until NCSAM 2026, forms part of early sensitisation activities ahead of the annual October observance, which is dedicated to promoting cyber hygiene and digital safety across the country.

The Authority has urged the public to remain vigilant, verify all financial requests through official channels, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and report suspected fraud cases to its Cybercrime Incident Reporting Point.

The National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2026, under the hashtag #NCSAM2026, is expected to focus on securing Ghana’s digital ecosystem under the theme “Securing Ghana’s Digital Future.”
