10, Including 4 Customs Officers Arrested Over Drug Trafficking

Ten persons, including four officers of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), have been arrested in connection with recent drug trafficking through Ghana’s ports.
This was disclosed when President John Dramani Mahama chaired a meeting of security chiefs on Thursday to receive a detailed briefing on investigations into the trafficking of drugs out of the ports of Ghana.
According to a statement from Jubilee House, the President was informed that the ten individuals are currently being held while investigations continue.
The meeting reviewed the structure and security systems in place at the ports and recommended new actions to strengthen controls.
President Mahama has directed that an inter-agency task force be formed to present a detailed roadmap, emanating from the meeting, on measures to prevent the trafficking of drugs through Ghana’s borders within two weeks.
