Mahama to Confer Order of the Volta on Soldiers Who Cleared Accra-Kumasi Expressway

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the conferment of the Order of the Volta on the Engineer Corps of the Ghana Armed Forces.

This will be done at the next National Honours, he said on September 14, 2026.

The honour is in recognition of their dedication and outstanding work in clearing the Right-of-Way for the 198.7-kilometre, six-lane Accra-Kumasi Expressway.

President Mahama commended the Engineer Corps for their efficiency and reaffirmed his confidence in the Ghana Armed Forces’ capacity to support national infrastructure development.

The 48 Engineer Regiment cleared 175.6 kilometres of the expressway corridor in 19 weeks, completing the task one week ahead of schedule, paving the way for construction to begin.
