September 21 Declared Public Holiday

The general public has been informed that Monday, September 21, 2026, will be observed as a statutory public holiday throughout the country.

The day marks Founder’s Day, a statutory public holiday designated to honour the founders of Ghana.

In a statement, the Ministry of the Interior announced that the day should be observed as such across the country and urged the public to comply accordingly.

Founder’s Day is observed annually to recognise and honour the collective efforts of all persons who contributed to Ghana’s independence struggle.
