NHIA Pays GH¢281.66 Million In Claims To Health Facilities Nationwide

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has disbursed close to GH¢281.66 million in claims to service providers across the country for services rendered to members of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The payment was made on August 25 and 27, 2026, to the Authority’s credentialed health facilities across the public, private and mission categories.

In a statement issued in Accra on September 7, 2026, the NHIA said a total of GH¢281,658,680.79 was paid in the latest round.

Of the amount, public health facilities received GH¢122,734,138.46, representing 43.58 per cent of the total payment; private facilities received GH¢104,504,883.03, representing 37.1 per cent, while mission health facilities received GH¢54,419,659.30, representing 19.32 per cent.

The Authority said the latest payment brings total claims payments for the year to date to GH¢1.64 billion, underscoring its commitment to reimbursing service providers regularly for the care they provide to members.

The Chief Executive of the NHIA, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, reiterated his administration’s resolve to promptly reimburse credentialed facilities to ensure uninterrupted, quality service delivery to Scheme members.

“We know the facilities need the payment to procure consumables to enable them to provide quality care to our members, and it is for this reason we ensure that as soon as their claims have been vetted, we promptly pay them,” Dr Bampoe said.

The NHIA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining timely claims reimbursement as part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare financing and support quality service delivery under the National Health Insurance Scheme.
