Bachelor’s Degree Now Minimum Requirement for GTLE- NTC

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has clarified that holders of a Diploma in Basic Education alone are not eligible to register for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).

In a public notice on the status of diploma holders and the GTLE, the Council stated that a diploma qualification does not meet the current entry requirement for the licensure examination.

According to the NTC, the minimum requirement for GTLE registration is a Bachelor’s Degree.

“Only holders of a Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to register for GTLE,” the Council emphasised.

The Council has therefore advised diploma holders who wish to be licensed to first complete a Bachelor’s Degree top-up programme.

“Pursue a recognised degree top-up programme to meet the eligibility,” the notice said.
