Ato Forson Begins Engagements On New Economy Agenda
Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has commenced engagements with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry as part of the government’s New Economy agenda.
Disclosing this in a Facebook post on Wednesday, Dr Forson said Ghana has moved past the stabilisation phase and is now entering a period focused on transformation.
According to the Finance Minister, stabilisation was a necessary foundation, but not the ultimate goal of the government’s economic management.
He explained that having paid the price of stabilisation through tough fiscal measures and reforms, the next phase must deliver tangible transformation that impacts Ghanaians at scale.
“Earlier today, I began engagements with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry on our New Economy agenda! Stabilisation was never the destination. It was the price of entry. Ghana has paid that price. What comes next is the work that changes lives at scale—the work of transformation!” he wrote.
The engagement with the Trade Ministry sought to align trade, agribusiness and industrial policy with the broader transformation agenda, which seeks to boost production, create jobs and enhance livelihoods.
Dr Forson has in recent months reiterated the government’s commitment to building a resilient, inclusive and export-led economy after restoring macroeconomic stability.
