67 Injured as Two Buses Crash At Duapompo On Kumasi-Accra Highway
Sixty-seven persons have sustained various degrees of injuries following a road traffic accident between two Granbird buses at Duapompo along the Kumasi-Accra Highway.
The accident was recorded at 2231 hours on August 30, 2026, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The buses involved were a VIP Granbird with registration number GW-5373-23, owned by Chairman ION and driven by Mr Simon Azuma with 34 passengers on board, and a KN KIA Granbird with registration number AK-980-26, owned by KOD Transport and driven by Mr Francis Yeboah, also carrying 34 passengers.
According to the GNFS, sixty-seven victims who sustained various injuries were rescued by members of the public before the arrival of the rescue crew and were conveyed to the Konongo Government Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the VIP bus, who was trapped in the vehicle, was rescued by the crew using a spreader in a dashboard roll method and was conveyed by Ambulance with registration number GV 589-20.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
