Sewuahene Pays Maiden Homage to Asantehemaa

The Paramount Chief of the Sewua Traditional Council, Nana Kwaku Amankwaa Sarkodie II, has paid homage to the Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Kyerewaa II.

He made his first appearance before the Queen of the Asante Kingdom on September 1, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, in the company of the Sewuahemaa, Nana Appau Sanwoansan, and his kingmakers.

In his remarks before the Asantehemaa, Nana Amankwaa Sarkodie II explained that his late visit was due to medical travel outside the country.

“I left Ghana on June 21, 2026. I heard all that transpired during that period within Asanteman, but I was not present in the country. I returned on August 27 and decided as soon as possible to come and pay my respects to my mother,” he said.

He used the occasion to honour Her Majesty with customary gifts in accordance with tradition.

The 15th Asantehemaa assumed the stool on July 6, 2026, following her appointment by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
