Ghana Receives GH¢391 Million Dividend From Perseus Mining

The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has disclosed that the Government of Ghana has received a dividend payment of GH¢391,195,000.00 from Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited.

The amount is equivalent to US$35 million.

In a Facebook post, Dr Forson thanked the mining company on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana for the presentation.

He noted that the amount represents a significant increase from the US$5 million dividend paid last year.

According to him, the sharp increase reflects the company’s profitability.

“Ghana must receive its fair share from the extractive sector. That is why we introduced the sliding-scale system: when mining companies earn more, the people of Ghana must benefit more!” the Minister stated.
