Power Outage Announced Ahead of Anwomaso-Ridge Transmission Line Upgrade

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a planned power outage in parts of the Ashanti Region to enable the Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo) to upgrade the Anwomaso to Ridge Bulk Supply Point transmission line.

The announcement was made in a notice dated Sunday, August 30, 2026.

According to ECG, the outage forms part of ongoing efforts to improve power supply in the Ashanti Region and to undertake development projects.

The outage is to enable GRIDCo to continue the ongoing upgrade of the Anwomaso to Ridge Bulk Supply Point transmission line by replacing the existing 364MVA single-circuit transmission line with a modern double-circuit transmission line rated at 2 x 488MVA (976MVA).

The planned outage is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas will include MTN Main Office, Guinness Ghana Ltd, Kaase, Khasi Angola, Kaasi Killers, Bomplex, Georgia Hotel, Crystal Rose, Coca-Cola, Ash Foam, BLLC, Abbatoir, Appiah Minkah and surrounding areas.
