Kumasi Inner Ring Road To Be Closed On September 6

The Department of Urban Roads (DUR) in the Ashanti Region has announced a half-day closure of a section of the Kumasi Inner Ring Road to allow for works on the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) transmission lines.
According to a public notice issued by the Department under the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the closure is to make way for GRIDCo to undertake the upgrade of service lines between Anwomaso and Abinkyi sub-stations in Kumasi.
As part of the implementation process, the decommissioning of the conductors is scheduled to be carried out on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
The section of the Inner Ring Road between Ahodwo Roundabout (Georgia Hotel Junction) and the Ark Intersection will be closed to traffic on Sunday, 6th September, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to allow for the exercise.
The notice, signed by the Ashanti Regional Director of Urban Roads, Surv. Na-Em Iddrisu, urged all motorists approaching Ahodwo Roundabout and the Ark Intersection to follow directional signs placed at vantage points and use alternative roads such as Harper Road, Melcom Road and/or Lake Road.
The Department said all inconveniences are deeply regretted and advised the general public to take note of the closure.
