Attorney General Inaugurates 11-Member Constitution Review Implementation Committee

The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has inaugurated an 11-member Constitution Review Implementation Committee (CRIC) to advance proposals made for a review of the 1992 Constitution.

This follows the announcement of the government’s position paper on the recommendations made by the Professor H. Kwesi Prempeh Constitution Review Committee set up by the President last year.

The Committee is chaired by the Presidential Legal Counsel and Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Ms Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew.

Members of the Committee are Hon. Dr Justice Srem Sai, Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, Ms Charlotte Osei, Dr Rainer Akumperigya, Hon. Emelia Ankomah as Majority Representative, Hon. Kwame Ayimadu Antwi as Minority Representative, Mr Samuel Passah as Local Government Representative, Mr. Oliver Baker Vormawor as Secretary, Ms. Salamatu Iliasu as Draftsperson, and Mr. Eric Owusu-Mensa as Parliamentary Liaison.

According to a press release dated August 28, 2026, from the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice, the Committee is tasked with examining the government’s position paper alongside the report of the Constitution Review Committee and developing a comprehensive framework for the implementation of the proposals.

The government has reiterated its commitment to an inclusive and transparent constitutional review process that reflects the aspirations of the Ghanaian people and strengthens democratic governance.
